Network Rail Control Centres

Working in close partnership with C Spencer of Hull, CCI have developed the design of the automatic control systems to control centres at Derby, Glasgow and Didcot.  These state of the art control centres are the basis for the next generation in signalling.

Network Rail have invested heavily in the redevelopment of derelict brownfield sites to house the new centres.  Built to a modular design, they are unique in the United Kingdom and serve as the prototype in a long line of similar control centres to be built across the country.

Motor control centres have been strategically located at rooftop level to serve the ventilation plant and ground floor level to serve the low temperature hot water, domestic hot water and chilled water plant.  All the control and monitoring of the mechanical plant is carried out utilising the latest Trend IQXCITE controllers operating on a dedicated Ethernet network.  As part of the overall scheme, CCI have installed a Trend 963 graphical user interface to provide real-time information to the building user as well as a means to integrate with the following systems:

  • Close-control
    air-conditioning
  • Fan tile units
  • Fan coil units
  • Chillers
  • Fire alarm
  • Access
  • Lifts
  • LV switchgear
  • Utility meters
  • Gas suppression
  • Static switches
  • Standby generator
  • UPS
